Roleplay Etiquette
In this game we play, it's easy to make mistakes, but ignorance is no excuse to rudeness. We as humans are not perfect so please do not expect perfections but a common understanding to be as polite as possible. Leave the drama in the stories! Read these guidelines to stay a head of the curve and be a polite player (your character can be as rude or nice as they are written though!)

These rules are to be followed and can be held against you per our punishment ladder should you fail to respect these rules after multiple corrections

Rules subject to change/be added on to should new situations arise.
- IC conflict =/= OOC conflict, the moment you take it ooc is the moment you cross a line in the rules. characters are allowed to have faults, dont take it out on the players. evolve, adjust, answer how your character would, not you. This includes IMing a person "yeah I didn't like how you responded to that" or metagaming treatment toward that player due to an OOC slight you felt. We're adults here, things don't go to plan all the time.
-
Please try to be aware of those posting around you, try to respond to everyone. Mistakes happen though and some times groups are too big to catch everything. rule of thumb, if the person you're trying to address IC, IM them and bring some attention to your post. It's often in mistake these things happen and some simple communication can save a lot of stress and misconceptions.
-
DO NOT ONLY POST NARRATIVE. This is only posting what your character is doing. Most people don't want to read paragraphs of where you put your hands or how you are standing there having some inward thoughts, no one can respond to these things so you do run the risk of not getting a response.
-
NOT ALL CHARACTERS HAVE TO RESPOND. If the characters don't like each other, that's that! Characters have flaws. We are not perfect nor are they especially.
-
DO NOT post rude statements in narrative. Our characters can't see but the players can and it's irksome. YES characters are allowed to be racist "So and so turns his nose up at -insert random race here-" but DO NOT go on in a way that cant be responded to how you would do horrible things to them or tear down there character with out giving a chance to respond. If it's in your characters mind, some things are better left there not where the world can read.
-
DO NOT BREAK POST ORDER. JUST DON'T unless you ask and are given permission like "Hey I want to block that hit for you" or something. Posting several times while someone posts once can get daunting and annoying and hard to keep track of.
-
In general, BREAK UP YOUR NARRATIVE FROM YOUR SPEAKING do not go from so and so does this thing oh hey how are you doing! as they keep doing that thing. a proper post so things don't get misunderstood follows as: Joe would look up from his work "Oh hello, didn't see you come in" He would greet as he stood, leaving his work on the table.
-
Just be nice. At the end of the day, this sim is used as a game, not one person is the main character including staff. We are playing characters too and are allowed to respond how they would if something upsets or pleases them. It is not all tea time and cupcakes, if its not your kind of scene? Move on to the next, nothing is forcing you to stay. Characters have breaking points, they're allowed to snap, they're allowed to be crazy. This is a sim of free opportunity but no one gets a pass on consequences IC.
-
If you have any problems involving another player or staff, contact administration ASAP. We do not play favorites and would rather talk things out than tell you to suck it up butter cup. NO ONE is allowed to be rude OOC. Owners, administration, leads or players.
-
Entering a scene: Is it in a building? If so, need to ask someone inside (Preferably in IMs) if it is ok to enter. Is it in a public space? Two ways to approach this: WAIT for posts to see what's going on (you do look silly posting in with out seeing what the scene is about, someone could be dying and you just wished everyone a happy sunny day) OR IM someone if it's free to enter the scene.... But still wait and process the scene still, again it looks silly/rude to post in with out context to an already progressing scene.
-
DO NOT FIRST PERSON RP! There are a few reasons not to, it's jarring to read for the most part and that's the part we're going to insist you be kind to your fellow players to better read your posts. Everyone posts in THIRD person to establish the difference between action and a character verbalizing something and make reading, processing and PREVENTING METAGAMING ON ACCIDENT easier.
