Fae

These two sides of the fae while divided, they find reasons to get along as well as their basal laws they are incapable of breaking. A fae, no matter what, can not lie. They are oath bound creatures which tends to be why they do not say thank you outside of having their life saved. They are easily harmed by iron, this can range from a bad burn to death upon contact or wounding. Some hold dear to them what is known as a true name. A true name holds dominion over the individual ffae upon learning their name.

The Unseelie are dark, enjoy and even push for change, they are pranksters, they embody the darker side of the fae, born of half blood unions or in the winter months they will spread and cavort with other races and planes. They can be evil or just misguided. Unseelie put passions first, they will use what they want with out a second thought and being honorable is not high on their to do list.

The Seelie tend to be stuck in their ways, unchanging, light in the wilds. They are in their prime during spring and summer months. Purists being pureblooded fae themselves, they usually stick to themselves as a whole, their court often open to other immortal creatures like the unicorn and Kirin. They are lovers not fighters, they would rather die than be dishonored.

All fae in some manner, in some point in time, have the ability to use glamour. Glamour is the ability to invoke illusions almost completely on a whim. This ranges from making people see what the fae wishes them to see, turning things invisible for a short period of time and so on. The ability to do such and to what extent rests solely on their practice and focus.

Creation Story

Fae were, from the beginning, born of passion the goddess as well as the emotion. Beings of nature and emotion, some developed good, positive traits, others not so welcomed. All tricksters by nature, some’s tricks were not so easy and fun for all. Eventually these magical creatures split dividing them into two courts: Seelie and Unseelie.

Because of Passion’s involvement in creating the fae and the land they live in, Del’quae, She granted dominion over the elements to them through several pillars as well as a personal element they could tap into. This the fae groomed, they took care of the pillars as well as took care of the other worldly forest that protected them.

Place in the World

The fae live in a plane of their own, a plane caught in twilight. The trees and grasses and fruits themselves are magic, they protect the creatures who seek safe harbor inside yet only allow the fae to be those seeking it. Any other creature will find themselves sick and/or high in a matter of hours in the wilds, non-fae consuming food or drink made from the foods of the wilds will be such a lot faster. The forest also protects itself in one last measure. The magic of the plane curses non-fae who steal, be it the water, the plants, the soil, possibly even fae themselves if kidnapped. All things will curse the thief until the item is returned. The curse could range from bad luck, food tasting disgusting, birds attacking for no reason, any sort of inconvenience to the person.

The fae are strong in aura in a sense, their being and their home can become addicting. Time spent with either once you get past the sick and high will create a dependency. Once that dependency is made it will create withdrawals being apart from the wilds or specific fae you’ve grown attached to. This will eventually, when it has become strong enough, imbue the attached fae’s element and glamouring upon the addicted. If a person becomes fae touched just by being influenced by the wilds alone they will only gain minor glamouring abilities.
